Yes.if it supports it.usually for a new hdd drive it will not support it cause it will need a achi driver.and this should be added as a 3rd party by pressing F6 when it asks for xp.and by browsing for it in the other operation systems. I guess if you install it as Sata as ide.(selected in bios ) and after that install the raid and achi driver and go back to bios and change it back.it will get it.In the worse case.you do not have the correct driver and it will say there is no hdd plugged or give you memory error with a blue screen 165 views 0 helpful votes. The link below will take you to a page on the Acer Web site that shows the specs for this laptop. According to the specs, this laptop does not come with onboard wireless (if this feature were part of the system, it would be listed in the specs). Also, you can check Device Manager to see if you have a Wireless Adapter listed under Network Adapters. If you don't see any type of Wireless adapter listed then you'll definitely know that your laptop doesn't have it built in.
To access Device Manager: Right-click My Computer Click Properties Click Manage In the left navigation pane, click Device Manager. In the larger window, scroll down the list to Network Adapters. Expand the Network Adapters tree to see the installed adapters. However, the specs do show that this laptop has 2 PC Card slots. These slots give you at least a couple of options for connecting to the Internet. You can buy an Air Card that is installed in one of the PC Card slots when you want to use it to access the Internet. My company used to provide Air Cards for laptop users through AT&T.
The advantage is that you have an uninterrupted connection to the Internet no matter your location. You can also buy a WiFi card that fits into a PC Card slot. This card will be your Wireless NIC (adapter) providing you with the means to set up connections to wireless networks. Linksys is a pretty good brand and fairly easy to install and support. After installation and configuration, you can pop the card in your PC Card slot anytime you want to connect to a Wireless network then remove it when it's no longer needed. I hope this helps you connect wirelessly using your laptop. Please rate this solution and thanks for using Fixya.

In computing, device drivers are computer programs that operate or control certain types of devices installed on the computer. Drivers provide software interfaces to hardware, enabling operating systems and other computer programs accessing hardware functions without needing to know the exact hardware details. The driver communicates with the device via a computer bus or communications subsystem connected to the hardware. When the calling program calls a routine in the driver, the driver issues a command to the device. Once the device sends data back to the driver, the driver can call the routine in the original calling program. Drivers depend on hardware and operating system.

Usually they provide the necessary interrupt handling for the asynchronous asynchronized hardware interface as needed. Device drivers, especially on modern Microsoft Windows platforms, can run in kernel mode (CPU Ring 0 on x86) or in user mode (CPU Ring 3 on x86). The main benefit of running drivers in user mode is enhanced stability, since poorly written user mode device drivers can not damage the system by overwrapping the kernel’s memory. On the other hand, user / kernel-mode transitions typically impose considerable performance overheads, thus prohibiting user mode drivers for low latency and high throughput requirements.
The kernel space is accessible to user modules only through the use of system calls. End user programs such as UNIX shell or other GUI-based applications are part of the user space.
This app interacts with hardware through kernel supported functions.
